Description
Carriage bolts have a dome shaped (rounded) head with a square shoulder beneath it, which prevents the bolt from turning when the nut is tightened or loosened. Carriage bolts are used for fastening metal to metal or metal to wood. Carriage bolts are used in locks, hinges, and where the bolt must only be removed from one side. The dome shaped head and square shoulder prevents carriage bolts from being unlocked from the insecure side.
